You have landed on this page because you want to find out more about the wonderful world of hypnosis: how it can help you with many aspects of your life and how it can make it fuller and richer – so thank you.
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a completely safe altered state of mind. People undergoing hypnosis are generally fully aware of what they are experiencing.
Hypnosis comes from the Greek word hypnos meaning sleep. This is misleading because during hypnosis you are not asleep. You are fully aware of what is going on around you. You can talk, move respond, feel, hear. Hypnosis is, rather, a state of altered awareness and heightened focus. You have already experienced a similar trance state: when you are lost in thought, daydreaming: absorbed in a film, book or tv programme: or when you make a journey regularly and have no memory of it afterwards.
During hypnosis, the subconscious mind which houses our feelings and memories can come to the surface and be available to suggestions for change. It is our subconscious mind that actually makes those changes
Hypnosis allows therapist and client, together, to communicate directly with the subconscious mind.
Such communication can help people deal with many different kinds of problems and issues.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a process in which a professionally trained therapist helps a client to go safely into this altered state of awareness or trance. The client is always in control: aware of what is being said: able to hear, talk, move, respond.
Once in the trance state, and client can work together on whatever is troubling the client by communicating directly with the client’s subconscious mind.
